There’s one fashion trend that seems to linger on and on: the leopard print. It is one of the favorite trends of most celebrities starting off with style icon Kate Moss, who adopted it back in the early 90’s and turned it into a uniform that rocks. Over the years it has turned out to be a classic must have wardrobe staple for everyone who’s fashion-conscious.
And guess what: it’s definitely very fashionable for this winter and summer to come! The secret to it? Treat it like black. That’s right, it looks best when added in an outfit as if it were black. The difference is that it’s so interesting that it instantly upgrades any outfit into a style league of its own. Hence, it is one fashion trend that never fades.
Many celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Olivia Palermo, Alexa Chung, Kendall Jenner, Sienna Miller, Reese Witherspoon, Victoria Beckham, and Bella Hadid are only some of the leopard print fans. But Kate Moss was definitely the one who gave this print the prestige it deserves. She really changed everyone’s perspective on it.
She made it rock when she wore it as a coat with an all black outfit (my favorite look – by the way), or with stripes – yes it’s OK to clash with other prints; or combined it with white jeans and a grey tee. She proved its versatility when she even wore it with a dinosaur print sweater and a black hat. How cool was that? (Check out my Pinterest pins for images of her with this print if you don’t believe me)!
As a matter of fact she chose to wear a leopard coat yet again, over a black mini dress, bare legs, black booties and a pink bag on her 40th birthday party! One thing is for sure, that it’s the one print that has always made her look like a million bucks.
If the all black outfit with leopard print coat is a bit of a dressed up combo for you, then try it on with an all denim outfit or an athleisure casual outfit (trackers, sneakers and top). The cool thing about this print is that it be dressed up or down. It can also be worn as a standout accessory like a bag, scarf, belt or shoes to upgrade any outfit from ordinary to extraordinary.
Its unparalleled wildness was first praised by DIOR back in the 1950’s. But, it seems like every respectable brand from Lanvin, Gucci, Cavalli, DKNY to Dolce and Gabbana and every other brand in between have featured this print at one point or another in their collections. This print has become synonymous to timeless elegance. Therefore, fear not to wear it and own it! When in doubt… wear a little leopard! 😉
