And God Created..Brigitte Bardot. The 1956 French movie by Roger Vadim (God Created Woman) where the young Brigitte Bardot starred was a blast. She wasn’t just another blonde star. Her iconic style set her apart. She gave the impression of the girl next door who was damn sexy, but in a casual kind of way, untouchable, natural. Her tousled hair with headbands, her gingham outfits, Breton tees, rainbow striped dresses and pants, ruffles, ballerina shoes, and hot shorts changed the fashion world…forever! The Bardot style as it is now known still thrives.
Brigitte Bardot wore the leopard print before Kate Moss rocked it. But, the off-the-shoulder neckline tops and dresses that were named after her, became an ongoing obsession that we will never recover from. Nowadays, her style legacy lives on, but in a re-imagined way.
After all, fashions come and go, evolve and re-appear in cycles. Thus, Bardot’s style has been re-invented and re-imagined, capturing the flirty, sexy appeal and re-introduced for this SS18 season. Bardot tops and dresses are going to be trending big time, along with gingham, ruffles, and stripes. The great thing about them is that they flatter women in a beautiful and casual way. Most have a more loose fit and come in all lengths. And they can be paired with denims and high waist pants or shorts. Ankle booties, sandals, ballerina flats, and pumps can all be great combos.
Undoubtedly, BB was one of the most influential style icons; a true fashion muse. Her name became synonymous to a sex symbol. But, her style was above else carefree and elegant.
