One of the biggest fairs in decoration and design for professionals, that takes place twice every year in Paris, is Maison Et Objet 2019 that ended just recently. It is one of those fairs that I would like to attend, but sadly I still haven’t done so. Yet. I think it would be a truly inspiring experience where brands present their new novelties, while design trends are making their presence felt everywhere. Come to think of it though, it could prove a bit hard to pinpoint any new trends that will make their way down to the high street, but nonetheless I know there are there. But what is it that makes this fair stand out?
I think that it makes a wonderful showcase of fabulous products, ideal if you’re involved in upscale interior design projects and want to source new products, see new design ideas and a perfect way to know the best the market has to offer. As a matter of fact, 65 countries were represented by brands, while 603 new brands appeared for the first time this January! This number alone attests to the amazing possibilities that can spring out of this fair.
As for the highlights of this fair these include a strong sense of luxury and an eclectic, well curated flair for design. It was a lot about those perfect details that create an awe factor, exemplary craftsmanship blended with lots of velvet, earthy color palettes, colored marbles with strong veins and a good mix of other lush materials. As such, I have highlighted the following brands that stood out for me and I believe, we’ll be seeing a lot more of: Covet House, Essential Home, Luxxu, RugSociety, and Pullcast. So feast your eyes with these amazing looking decor staples that nearly had me gasping for air and wishing for a high-end residential design project.
As a closing note, I’d like to point out that glamour is seriously making a huge comeback. Mid-century modern is still very much in the picture but with a more glamorous twist. Lastly, I would like to mention that designer Jonathan Adler with his black and white graphic palette and a punchy 60’s spirit decor was one of those who encapsulated this trend best.
Till next time,
