Ladies the fashion industry has ruled: it’s time to make room for sequins and glitter! This fall, eighties glamour is a huge trend and sequins will be everywhere. There were in almost every fashion show from Alberta Ferretti, Gucci, Valentino to Balmain. (I hate to be the killjoy here, but that wasn’t a very environmental friendly decision by the fashion industry). Anyway, sequins with their sparkle will dominate our day wear too, lending some of their glow. Tops, skirts, dresses, jumpsuits, shoes and bags are all embellished with sequins – even beanies.
But there’s a small twist in how we wear them. They’re no longer reserved for formal occasions. Instead, they are to be worn with a casual ease from morning till dusk, with booties, teddy bear overcoats, knitted sweaters and lots of animal print accents. Another note to make is that silver is this season’s “it” metallic color, therefore silver sequins are the safest choice.
Nonetheless, all sequins have a loud and clear motto: be bold and glow! And this is probably the most fitting time ever to actually make it happen. We have been experimenting with layering our clothes for years now. So sequins and a little glitter to “frost” ourselves seems to be the right touch at the right time. My guess is that this fashion trend will surely last until the dawn of a new decade. Yes, maximalism is gaining in momentum even in the fashion industry…!
