I Still Believe

Oh yes, deep down I think I’m a hopeless romantic. Really! I love watching films with a happy end (honestly I had enough of brutal and raw violence in movies – what is that all about?!) and I cry my eyes out whenever I get moved by the sheer struggle and agony that goes in every effort in doing something that makes one proud. And yes, I still BELIEVE in magic. I still believe in the power of creativity and inspiration. And I truly love sharing, and mean genuinely sharing information, images, knowledge, experiences, stories, jokes and all that matters in every possible way just for the sake of sharing.

I guess that’s why I love writing my thoughts on this blog more often than not. Because to me, it all boils down to the magic of being present at a time when so many things seem so incomprehensible and utterly senseless. But beneath it all, I still have faith that good shall prevail against the odds. So when my eldest son asks me if Santa is real, I simply reply to him that ‘He is, as long as you believe!’ Because, as Gordon B. Hinckley said:

Faith in something greater than ourselves enables us to do what we have said we’ll do, to press forward when we are tired or hurt or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course is entirely uncertain.

So, this festive season is the perfect opportunity to restore some of that faith that may got lost along the way, to strengthen our family ties and build some great family memories. This is the perfect time to bake even more cakes with my children and teach them all the Christmas carols I know. This is the time to make garlands out of paper like I once used to or even an Advent Calendar that I once drew for myself and my sister. (In the meantime, I made a little Christmas village as a wall hanging that you may want to try out). Perhaps one day they’ll do the same for their children.

I don’t mean to sound too sentimental, but I just feel the urge to share with you some of my expectations for this holiday season in a sweet but brief way and inspire you to do the same. Life is too short to miss out on being present in our lives. It is too short to hold grunges and bitterness. It is too short to take too long to feel good in our own skin. And since we serve as examples to our children, let’s not forget that time is the one luxury we can never afford. So do what you have to do, but make sure Santa comes round this year again for the little and the big kids in your life! Why spoil the magic?! 😉

Yours truly,
